Natural Flood Managment

We recently assisted the Radnorshire Wildlife Trust with a natural flood management project, creating leaky wood debris to help slow the flow of water during high risk events.

Leaky dams are made from natural materials like timber and placed in water channels. They allow normal water flow to pass through, but create an obstruction during high flows. This temporarily stores water in the stream channel or pushes it onto the floodplain, reducing the flood peak and risk downstream

Having our portable petrol winch with a few pulleys was really useful in moving larger pieces of timber to create secure structures.
